Merck announced that the US FDA had granted Breakthrough Therapy designation to enpatoran (TLR 7/8 inhibitor) for the treatment of lupus with active cutaneous manifestations.

  • The trial used an innovative basket and adaptive study design including patients with both CLE and SLE.

  • Merck recently initiated the ELOWEN 1 and ELOWEN 2 studies, evaluating the therapy’s impact on both cutaneous and systemic symptoms in patients with lupus and potential links between skin and systemic disease activity.
