UCB completed acquisition of Candid Therapeutics strengthening next generation immunology pipeline (Ref)
UCB announced the successful completion of its previously announced acquisition of Candid Therapeutics, a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing novel T-cell engager therapies for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.
The acquisition strengthens UCB’s position as an innovator in immunology and expands its capabilities in next-generation biologics aimed at achieving immune reset.
It brings cizutamig (BCMA), Candid’s lead investigational asset, into UCB’s pipeline. The asset is currently being evaluated in multiple Phase 1 studies across a range of autoimmune diseases.
The total transaction is valued at up to US $2.2 billion, consisting of US $2 billion in upfront payments, plus up to US $200 million in potential future milestone payments.
Biogen expanded immunology pipeline with agreement to acquire RayThera (Ref)
Biogen and RayThera, announced that they had entered into a definitive agreement under which Biogen agreed to acquire RayThera Inc. for up to $1 billion, comprising an upfront payment and milestone-based payments tied to future clinical and regulatory achievements.
RayThera’s portfolio included multiple anti-inflammatory assets with potential applications across several immune-mediated diseases.
The lead candidate was expected to enter Phase 1 development in early Q3 2026.
Under the terms of the agreement, Biogen agreed to make an upfront payment to RayThera’s shareholders, who were also eligible to receive additional clinical and regulatory milestone payments for a total potential deal value of up to $1 billion.
The transaction remained subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals and was anticipated to close in Q3 2026.
Upon completion of the acquisition, Biogen was expected to lead the development, manufacturing, and global commercialization of the acquired assets.
